There’s plenty of life on the other side of the record.
Athens-based Manolaco lands on BotaniQ with his ‘Hyped in LA’ EP, released on 25th September, and while the title track brings the rolling club pressure, we’re premiering the B-side, ‘I Sing Jazz and Soul’.
Fresh from releases on Moan, Mindshake and Sound D’Elite, Manolaco has built his name around grooves made for proper rooms. ‘I Sing Jazz and Soul’ loosens things up, working soulful touches into crisp percussion, a bouncing low end and a rhythm that keeps moving without trying too hard.
It’s a neat contrast to the title track and another reminder that the B-side is often where producers get to have a little more fun. This one still has its eyes firmly on the dancefloor, but there’s more swing in its step, the sort of cut that feels right when a basement is already warm and nobody is going home yet.
With support from Jamie Jones and Damian Lazarus, plus years spent playing across Greece alongside the likes of Marco Carola, Loco Dice, Joseph Capriati and Paco Osuna, Manolaco knows his way around a club record.
We’re premiering Manolaco’s ‘I Sing Jazz and Soul’ in full today. Turn it up, then grab the ‘Hyped in LA’ EP via BotaniQ.
