We’ve developed a bit of a habit for digging into the B-sides lately. They keep delivering.
Argentine DJ and producer Franco Schmidt makes his Hot Creations debut with the two-track ‘Némesis’ EP, released on 25th September, becoming the first Argentine artist to land a full EP on Jamie Jones’ label. While the title track leads the release, we’re heading straight for the flip with today’s premiere of Franco Schmidt’s ‘Ecléctico’.
And there’s plenty to like down there.
‘Ecléctico’ takes things into darker territory, built around a rolling low-end, tight percussion and the sort of groove that gets better the later the room gets. There’s no unnecessary clutter, just a solid club record doing its job, pushing forward and leaving plenty of space for a DJ to work with it.
The EP marks another step for Schmidt after taking his sound from Argentina into clubs across Colombia, Peru, Spain and Italy. He’s also been building things on his own terms through Sugaro Music, while developing a groove-led sound with the dancefloor firmly at its centre.
Landing on Hot Creations is a sizeable moment, but Franco Schmidt’s ‘Ecléctico’ is our pick from the package. Another B-side making a very strong case for always checking the flip.
We premiere ‘Ecléctico’ in full below. Turn it up, then grab the ‘Némesis’ EP via Hot Creations.
