Ethan Ramos gets straight to work on ‘Workaholic’

Ethan Ramos launches his solo chapter with ‘Workaholic’, out 10th July on his brand new label Unleaded Records.

Best known as one half of Californian house duo SHIFTY, Ramos has spent the last few years producing, touring and building serious dancefloor miles. Now he steps out on his own with a debut EP that also marks the first release on his own imprint. No small move.

‘Workaholic’ leads from the front. A deep, rolling bassline locks the groove in early, while booming percussion gives it enough weight for darker rooms and late-set pressure. Melodic keys and brass flickers add colour without softening the punch, with Ramos’ spoken word running through the middle like a late-night thought that found its way onto the club system.

On the flip, ‘Matter of Fact’ keeps the EP moving with luminous chords, dubbed-out synths and a tougher four-to-the-floor drive. It is punchy, direct and built for peak-time use, the sort of cut that does its job without making a fuss about it.

As first statements go, ‘Workaholic’ makes sense. It sets the tone for Ethan Ramos as a solo artist and puts Unleaded Records on the map with a clear idea of what it wants to be, groove-led house music with enough feeling for the heads and enough muscle for the floor.
