Simon Green has released his eighth studio album, ‘Distance in Static,’ marking 25 years of recording as Bonobo. The full-length record is available now across digital platforms.
The LP features diverse vocal collaborations with Arooj Aftab, Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Kanako Yamamoto, Nicole Miglis, and Aanya Martin. Spanning multilingual lyrics in English, Urdu, and Japanese, the compositions combine processed instrumentation with traditional Iranian samples and guzheng recordings. Sessions took place across Los Angeles, Tokyo, London, and Neil Young’s Broken Arrow Ranch.
Balancing club-oriented rhythms with warm downtempo structures, the project explores the duality between Green’s background as a live band leader and electronic selector. Visual direction utilizes microscopic photography created alongside designer Trevor Jackson.
“I think the front end of what I’ve done has now become something that’s referential to younger people,” the artist commented. “I liked the idea of listening for a distant signal — trying to find something in the noise,” he added.
To support the release, Bonob has also announced extensive live tour dates across North America for late 2026, followed by UK and European arena dates in early 2027, including a headline stop at London’s Alexandra Palace.
