Journey Through My Discography: Avi Sic

Back

With a sound rooted in bass-driven energy and shaped through years behind the decks, Avi Sic’s evolution as a Producer has unfolded with clear intent. From refining her lane in the studio to earning traction across Beatport and support from global names, Avi Sic’s trajectory has taken her to leading labels like HEXAGON and Spinnin’, while simultaneously building momentum through well-received self-releases.

Here, she reflects on the records that have defined that path, tracing the moments where her sound clicked, expanded, and began to resonate on a wider scale.

The Music

After 20 years as a DJ and about three years trying to figure out my lane as a Producer, this was the record where things finally clicked. This record was a turning point. It was the first time I saw widespread support from DJs across the scene.

Artists like Robin Schulz, Fedde Le Grand, Laidback Luke, Showtek, Bingo Players, Tim Clark and others were playing it, and it started appearing in places I never expected, from festival stages like EDC, LOA Festival and Sunrise Festival to club sets around the world.

Seeing the record chart across Beatport and hearing it played by DJs I respected made me realise my music had the potential to travel far beyond my own sets. More than anything, it was the moment I realised I had found my sound.

Dancing With My Boyz

This was a big milestone for me. It became my first signing with Hexagon. As a DJ, I had been playing records from that label for years, so having my own music become part of that catalogue was something I’d only dreamt about. Getting that email and knowing the record had found the right home gave me a huge boost of confidence in the studio and pushed me to keep developing my sound.

Control Me

Around this time things were really starting to click for me in the studio. I was experimenting a lot more with synth sounds and learning new production techniques, and this was one of the first records where I felt like I was actually applying those ideas instead of just figuring them out.

I remember seeing Juicy M play it on one of her livestreams, and then R3WIRE, whose show I watched often, giving it a rinse as well. Moments like that hit differently when they come from artists you’ve followed for years. The track eventually ended up being signed to BIJOU’s label, which felt pretty full circle since I had been a fan of his music long before I was releasing my own.

Disco Train

This collaboration came about after I reached out to Kiro Prime, whose recent release I had been a fan of. Around that time, I decided to try something I had been hesitant about for a while – using my own vocals on the record.

I’ve always loved writing and had done a lot of lyric and poetry projects in the past, but for some reason I had kept that separate from my production. This was the first time I took that jump.

The track ended up being released on Mentalo, Robin Schulz’s label under the Spinnin’ Records umbrella. The response from DJs was amazing and it started showing up in sets around the world, with Diplo even playing it in his club sets. It also had a more fun and melodic lead that would influence some future works.

Need No Light

I had worked with the rapper KXNE on an earlier track (Acid On My Tongue) and had also started collaborating with Belgian producer Nessø on some other projects, and this was the moment where I brought us all together on one record. The combination of styles gave the track a unique energy, and it was exciting to see how it evolved once we started building it out.

Shake (Like Chris Lake)

This one is special. It marked my second self-release, a moment where I trusted my instincts as an artist and decided to go the DIY route. It was really empowering to take full control of a release and put the record out on my own terms.

The track gained traction, earning strong support on Beatport and catching the attention of artists like Westend and Chris Lake himself. It was also another record where I used my own vocal, which has become a fun creative outlet for me in the studio. The title is a direct nod to an artist who inspired my move from open-format DJ toward production. Sometimes the best move is simply believing in the music and letting it find its audience.

Way 2 High

I was playing a live showcase set during ADE and HeyDoc! happened to come out to it, so I dropped this track which was a WIP while we were both there on stage. At that point the record wasn’t even signed yet, which made the moment even better.

Everyone immediately went full bass face on the drop. There’s something special about testing new music live like that and seeing the reaction in real time. It’s now my fifth release on Hexagon, which feels full circle since it’s a label that has played a big role in my journey as a Producer. This record in particular represents a long journey of experimentation.

Across these records, creativity and exploration emerge as central to Avi Sic’s approach, shaping each track with clarity and instinct. As her journey continues to unfold, the focus remains on refining her craft and pushing ideas further, delivering music that connects in real time, both in the studio and on the dancefloor.
