Björk has unveiled ‘Echolalia’, a one-day festival set to coincide with the total solar eclipse on Wednesday, August 12th, 2026, in Iceland. The event will be held at Víðistaðatún in Hafnarfjörður, bringing together music, visual art, and a rare natural phenomenon.
The lineup features DJ sets by Björk and Arca, alongside performances from Ronja and Sideproject, with more artists yet to be announced. The gathering builds on Björk’s long-running Mánakvöld series, described as dance evenings under a full moon where she invites collaborators and friends to play. This edition shifts focus to the solar eclipse, framing the experience around a shared moment in daylight.
The event also coincides with Björk’s exhibition at the National Gallery of Iceland. The installation presents ‘Ancestress’ and ‘Sorrowful Soil’, composed in honor of her mother, alongside a new piece derived from her forthcoming album. The exhibition runs in parallel with ‘Metamorphlings’, a showcase by longtime collaborator James Merry.
Víðistaðatún will experience 100% totality for 1 minute and 4 seconds, with the eclipse lasting approximately two hours. All tickets include access to the exhibition and a pair of approved solar eclipse glasses.
