Patrice Bäumel has shared a new installment of his HALO Podcast series titled ‘HALO Podcast: Reimagined – Lost In Translation’, drawing inspiration from Sofia Coppola’s film.
Built as a narrative-driven mix, the project revisits the film’s themes through sound, combining curated tracks with audio fragments from ‘Lost In Translation’ and recordings captured in the streets of Tokyo. The result reflects the film’s emotional tone and its depiction of connection, distance, and place.
“Lost In Translation by Sophia Coppola is one of my all time favourite movies. It tells the story of two strangers crossing paths and developing feelings for each other. At the same time, it is a love letter to Tokyo, my favourite city on the planet. The movie perfectly captures the feeling of cultural disconnect, psychedelic vertigo, subtle beauty and silly playfulness of this extraordinary metropolis. After rewatching it on a long flight, I felt inspired to retell its story with music from my own collection,” says Patrice Bäumel.
The tracklist features music by Joachim Spieth and Warmth, Cornucopia, Alex Albrecht pres. Melquíades featuring James Harbard, Sascha Funke, Martinou, Vril, Vince Watson, Steve Moore, Yeah Yeah Yeahs remixed by Boy Harsher, Doltz, Aleksi Perälä, Gabbarein remixed by Trulz and Robin, Audio Junkies and Lonya remixed by Nicolas Rada, New Jackson, Map.ache, Will You remixed by Lb Honne, S.A.M., Dino Sabatini, Martin Jarl, Nicolas Rada, and Markus Guentner.
