Premiere: Awill is joined by Idd Aziz to uncover the spirit of ‘Pagoni’ on Groove Society Records

Some encounters are born from chance but shaped by something deeper. ‘Pagoni’, premiering exclusively on When We Dip Radio, is the result of one such meeting: Italian producer Awill linking up with Kenyan Afro House icon Idd Aziz, crafting a track that bridges continents and cultures through sound.
Conceived during the summer of 2024, the track was born from a serendipitous connection through a mutual friend, with Idd Aziz lending his unmistakable, soulful voice to Awill’s immersive production. The result weaves electronic elements with the warm rhythms and organic textures of African music, house music filtered through a world sensibility, where two very different worlds find a shared language.
Awill, formerly known as Andrea Piko, made his name on the Italian club circuit before using the COVID years to reinvent himself. Rebranding brought a shift in focus: away from the functional and toward the emotional. His productions now lean into melodic restraint, atmosphere, and narrative pacing, drawing on influences ranging from rock and hip-hop to deep electronics. ‘Pagoni’ is a natural expression of that evolution, patient, textured, and beautifully alive.
Idd Aziz is one of Afro House’s most recognised voices. Born near Mombasa and raised within Kenya’s rich coastal musical tradition, he spent years touring alongside world music legends including Youssou N’Dour, Angelique Kidjo, and Salif Keita before channelling that global experience into a career-defining presence in the house world. Notably, he became the first Kenyan artist to perform at Coachella in April 2025, and was named Kenya’s most-streamed artist abroad on Spotify’s 2025 Global Impact List. His voice on ‘Pagoni’ carries all of that weight, grounded, resonant, and deeply human.
The track lands on Groove Society Records, a Miami-based label founded by Michael Delgado alongside Andrea Fernández and Peter Guzman.
